Alfa takes Coppa Milano-Sanremo

Giovanni Moceri and Rossella Labate scored back-to-back victories in the Coppa Milano-Sanremo by bringing their 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500SS home first on 13 March. Second place went to Fabio Salvinelli and Maurizio De Marco in a 1750 Gran Sport variant of the 6C while the 1939 Lancia Aprilia of Giordano Mozzi and Stefania Biacca took third. The ninth running of the reborn three-day regularity rally, organised by the MAC Group and supported by the Automobile Club of Milan, covered 800km through Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria with 39 timed tests and a further 19 time controls.

Also featured this year was a parallel event for more modern cars called the Ferrari Gran Tour Milano-Sanremo, which was won by Gino Verghini and Lamberto Fuso in a 1992 Ferrari 512TR, while the Coppa delle Dame on the main rally was scooped by Francesca Grimaldi and Laura Confalonieri in a 1964 Porsche 356 C.

The event attracted 150 crews from 12 countries to celebrate this important anniversary with us."
