Description
The automobile factories of Audi, Horch, DKW and Wanderer was combined under economic pressure in 1932 to Auto Union AG. In 1932, Audi introduced a new midsize car, the Audi Front 2 Liter Type UW. He had an advanced technology with front-wheel drive. For this purpose, an existing Wanderer engine was installed with the gearbox to the front (UW = umgekehrter/reversed Wanderer). Different body styles were built from 1933 at teh Horch plant and manufactured until 1938 in small quantities. From 1935 the engine was enlarged to 2.2 l . The Audi UW225 for sale has a complete history. It was owned by two families living only 10 km apart in the Swiss canton of Aargau. The Audi was subjected to a total restoration about 20 years ago and the engine was overhauled again two years ago. The exceptionally rare car is in very good condition and is registered in Switzerland as "Veteran"
