635 CSI (1988)

The E24 chassis, the first of the 6 Series, was BMW's followup to the iconic E9. The new grand tourer design initially was based on the outgoing E9 body but with increased hight for easier exit and entry, but Bob Lutz refused the proposal in favor of a completely new design. The shark-nose design of the first generation 6 Series became an instantly recognizable style queue that was quickly associated with BMW. The 635CSi received three major updates, including the change from a 3.0L engine to an eventual 3.4L version of the M30 engine with an optimized output of 208 horsepower. The optional L6 (Luxe 6) package also became available in 1987 and included a full leather headliner, a beverage cooler, a rear sunshade, a premium audio system, and an automatic ZF gearbox. This 1988 BMW 635CSi, an extremely well-optioned example of the E24, is finished in Swartz black over a Lotus White leather interior. It features the luxurious L6 package and shows just 70,000 miles on the odometer. It is in excellent condition and has been maintained by Automotive Restorations, Inc. for the past five years.
