1993 BMW 316 I TOURING LUX SPECIAL EDITION

First registered and pre delivery inspected by North Oxford BMW on 29.06.1993 to a Mrs
Audrey Robson of London remaining in her tenure for 25 years. In this time it was serviced
very well by the same supplying dealer for the first 20 years of its life with 11 service stamps in
the book together with documented cambelt changes.
Aud still wears her original number plates and dealer decal on the rear window together with her
cherished number.
Roughly three years ago it was purchased by a collector and sat in his shed most of the time
until bought by me a few months ago.
This is a very pure original low mileage example, that looks and drives superb. I have personally
covered 3000 miles over the course of the last 6 weeks and can state with confidence
that this is a gem of a car that is completely reliable.
Specification
The Lux model was afforded a lot of standard options, not limited to the following.
5 speed manual, electric front windows, power tilt / slide steel sunroof, electric door
mirrors, hazard light switch, heated rear screen, rear wiper, rear seat belts, cigarette
lighter, passenger vanity mirror, analogue clock, full size spare tyres, black leather
gear selector and three spoke 380mm black leather steering wheel, immobiliser, roof
antenna, rear passenger courtesy lights, original over mats, speed variable power steering.
Aud is finished in Sterling Silver metallic, Factory Code 244, overall, in a fine condition,
with no visible signs of corrosion, dents or scratches.
Condition
Complete, clean, unspoiled and without damage throughout. Alloys are in decent condition with
matching Pirelli tyres. All the tools and full size spare remain intact as is the
owner’s wallet with all manuals. The detailed hd images and video will hopefully
illustrate where this rare E30 differs from the rest. This BMW has stood the tests of time.
The E30
Granted, there have been a few BMW pinnacles for design and engineering, however the
uber cool E30 is surely one of those. From those defining sharp edges to the utilitarian
lines to the pure driving dynamics, it’s a car that today seems to ooze effortless cool
three decades on, especially in Touring format. To drive it feels special and engaging,
retaining its sharp road manners and a character that very few cars can muster. The E30
Tourer is sometimes referred to as the Swiss army knife of classic motoring as its a
real taskmaster blending style and practicality with old school swagger.
I had the MOT refreshed 05.05.2021 and it had no advise. The underside is in superb
condition, notably dry and no oil leaks. I changed the oil at this stage also.
In August 2018 at 66009 miles the timing belt was changed with a complete new kit
at cost of £325. This is a preserved car which has been spared the ravages of time
and neglect with the temptation to alter anything being wholly resisted. Its also
spent the majority of its life in the London area and cruciallly not by the sea or
salt exposed roads. Trying to repaet the condition and story will prove very difficult.
