Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Fully restored and mechanically rebuilt, stunning colour combination, very rare (1962)

What a beautiful ship, huh? The 1956 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible is what they used to rightly call a “Landyacht”. With its impressive length of 5.64 meters it is a huge car by any standard. In 1956 it was the pinnacle in the automotive field. A car to enjoy touring with the whole family in comfort. If you drove a Cadillac Series 62 in front at the time, the neighbors really no longer wondered whether you had already made it or not. With a Cadillac Series 62 convertible, everyone knew you had already arrived. It is not only the length of the car but also the width. The bench in the front can comfortably accommodate three people and the rear seat can also easily accommodate three people. This example has been fully body-off restored in the recent past and is in beautiful condition.
The body of the car looks beautiful. The sheet metal has beautiful fits and the paint is also in very good condition. At the time, the car was sprayed in this beautiful two-tone color scheme and still looks to pass through a ring. The paint has only some very light traces of use. The huge chrome bumpers are also in very good condition and follow the shapes of the body beautifully. The bumpers are an integral part of the car. At the front, they not only protect the body, but also house the fog lamps. At the rear, it is striking that the exhausts are beautifully integrated into the rear bumper. The hood was also renewed during the restoration and fits beautifully everywhere.
The interior is the absolute pinnacle for American car enthusiasts. The dashboard is beautifully wide and super clear. Even the clock in the dashboard is huge! The other instruments and controls are all in good condition and function as they should. The counters are wonderfully clear and a feast for the eyes. The upholstery was completely renewed during the restoration and looks beautiful. The leather on the seats is beautifully applied and has a beautiful fit. The carpets have also been applied with a great sense of originality and look beautiful. Of course, as you would expect from an offer from the top segment, the car is equipped with a tonneau cover to neatly cover the convertible top.
The car is powered by a beautiful eight-cylinder. The 365 Cubic Inches V8 engine produces 285 hp and is linked to an automatic transmission with an enormous number of gears for that time, namely four. The car is equipped with an extremely comfortable chassis and stands on beautiful White Wall tires with an enormous sidewall. While driving it becomes immediately clear that the entire driving experience with this car revolves around comfort. The car naturally steers beautifully, although it almost seems more on track, given the length of the car. The engine and transmission were both completely overhauled during the restoration and therefore function effortlessly as they should.
Finally, we look at the documentation for the car. It includes a copy of the original brochure, a photo series of the restoration and general information about the car. A look at the option list tells us that this copy is equipped with, among other things: tinted glass, fog lamps, gold finish in the grille, radio, white wall tires and heater. In short, a practical full-options car! The Cadillac Series 62 is a rarity these days. It is difficult to find cars in good condition. This example is in ready-to-go top condition and is ready for many kilometers of unbraked open car fun.
