The 1963 Corvette split window coupe belongs to the most legendary models of the  sports brand of the General Motors. The 1963 vintage of the Corvette sees the birth of the Sting Ray. Futurist, the design of the newborn, due to Bill Mitchell, has a head start. The car is like a bomb. Its shark shape and the large flat areas of its hoods, favored in the front by retractable headlights, derive from Mitchell's Sting Ray competition in 1959. The year 1963 also marks the launch of the first Corvette coupe. And what a coupe! Its fastback back decorated with a two-part bezel, the famous "split window", earned him his character as a rare pearl and a success never denied to collectors. Unfortunately, this beautiful style will disappear the following year in favor of a panoramic window, easier to build. Hence the rarity of the car. The 1963 Corvette's rowing is worth its plumage. The car inherits a new chassis with a wheelbase reduced by ten centimeters. Above all, it has independent rear wheels, a first in the United States. This entry of General Motors in the modern era of running gear is transforming the handling, now worthy of a real GT. All Corvettes produced from 1953 until 1962 were convertibles. Then the C2 Corvette debuted in 1963 with two body styles, a convertible and a coupe with the famous rear window. Of the 21,513 Corvettes built that year, 10,594 were split window coupes. Delivered new in the United States in 1963, our "Split" was imported to France a few years ago by a Parisian collector who will sponsor a complete restoration by a workshop specialized in American V8 engined cars. Having been driven very few since restoration, the car is ready to hit the road and will make the happiness of its new owner.
