Description
This is a beautiful and above all very rare Ford Mustang Convertible from the first series. The car was built in Dearborn Michigan and equipped with the 260 Cubic Inch V8 engine, which in this case is mated to a manual transmission. The car has been restored and technically overhauled in the past and is still in good condition.
The bodywork therefore looks very good. The sheet metal is nice and thin everywhere and fits well. The black paint was well sprayed at the time and still looks neatly cared for. The paint has some signs of use here and there, but nothing that doesn’t match the age of the car. The convertible top is easy to operate and is in good condition. The hood fits neatly everywhere. The car stands on original steel rims that are fitted with original hubcaps. The chromed bumpers are also in good condition and fit beautifully.
The interior is covered with original looking red vinyl on the seats and red colored carpets. The interior forms a beautiful contrast against the black exterior and forms a very nice overall picture thanks to the white vinyl convertible top. The instruments and controls all look neat and tidy and are in good condition. For the days when you can drive up completely, there is a tonneau cover in the same color as the upholstery.
The technique has already been completely overhauled and is in very good condition. The 260 Cubic Inch V8 engine produces 210 hp and in this case is mated to the three-speed manual transmission. It is a pleasure to drive the car. The Mustang Convertible does exactly what you expect; offer a wonderfully relaxed and quintessentially American driving experience. The engine is wonderfully relaxed to drive and thanks to the large torque, it is also no problem to drive the car with shifters. The bucket can be operated precisely and contributes greatly to the driving pleasure. The chassis and brakes are also well maintained and function as they should.
In short, not only a beautifully maintained Ford Mustang Convertible, but above all a very rare car from the beloved 1964.5 model year. The fact that this example is still equipped with the three-speed manual transmission is the icing on the cake.
