1960 JAGUAR MK II SPORTS SEDAN #212442DN. (Stock #4273.) Jaguar introduced a post-WW II sedan (1960)

1960 JAGUAR MK II SPORTS SEDAN #212442DN. (Stock #4273.) Jaguar introduced a post-WW II sedan
in 1956 with gorgeous rounded coachwork. a fabulously luxurious leather interior with walnut trim and a strong 2.4 litre, 6-cylinder engine which qualified the car as the world's fastest 4-door sedan at that time. . In 1959, this sedan underwent subtle styling changes and the an optional engine was offered in a more powerful 3.8 litre format with power increased to 220 horsepower and even more impressive performance specifications, now with a top speed of more than 120 mph. In many enthusiasts' minds, the 3.8 litre MK II, fitted with the optional 4-speed manual, floor-shift transmission (also offered with overdrive), and newly introduced disc brakes was the best of the series. When fitted with optional chrome "knock-off” wire wheels, the car was absolutely stunning. The sumptuous leather interior with beautiful polished walnut interior (with a matching rear-seat folding beverage tray) was spectacular and the car was a beautiful and comfortable 4-passenger performance sedan with a gorgeous body and excellent performance. Ours is just such a car. Found and purchased in Southerrn California in 2010 with 87,381 miles, the car was brought East by a local multi-Jaguar owner who proceed to spend in excess of $20,000 with a Jaguar specialist to bring the 50 year-old mechanicals up-to date. The engine was rebuilt along with substantial suspension replacements, keeping the car as-original, but making it very reliable for driving. In fact, during his 12 years of ownership, our local enthusiast took many long drives in the car, including trips to Iowa and Canada. Our car is also fitted with Jaguar seatbelts and the original "Radiomobile" radio. Now having moved to Madrid, the car's owner of 12 years has sold us both his XKE and this splendid MK II. Finished in gorgeous silver-blue with fabulous chrome, including the 15" wire wheels, and a two- town grey leather interior with blue piping, the car has fabulous polished walnut interior woodwork, including the rear seat folding beverage tray. 94,174 total miles with fewer than 7,000 miles on the mechanical rebuild. $58,000.
