This Jaguar XK 150 S DHC is featured in a number of magazine articles and was selected for the front cover of Phillip Porter’s definitive book “Jaguar XK Restorer’s Guide” due to its originality and condition.
Presented in its original colour of Carmen Red with matching interior and a mohair lined hood. OTL 151 is 1 of only 19 UK right hand drive 3.4 XK 150"S" DHC ‘s produced, which makes it a very rare car indeed.
First registered on the15th May 1959, its first owner kept the car a short while before it was purchased by MR A W Taylor of Surrey from a London Sports Car Specialist in late 1960. Mr Taylor used the car as a dry weather weekend car. The car was maintained on a regular basis and kept in dry storage, joining a number of other Jaguars in his private collection. Incredibly the car stayed in the ownership of the Taylor family for a total of 37 years before being purchased by Lynx Motors international.
The car was then sold to the current owner in 2005, for the purpose of competing in the 2005 Rallye des Alpes, an event for pre 1960s cars. The engine required an overhaul and was sent to Sigma Engineering who re-built it to fast road specification. In 2008, the original Moss gear box was repaired by Jaguar specialists, Twyford Moors, using the correct Moss box parts.
A new hood was fitted, utilising the original frame and new lumber – supported bucket seats were fitted but the original seats were retained (and will be sold with the car). Recent cosmetic works have been undertaken to return the body of the car to pristine condition.
During its current ownership, the car participated in a number of significant events including:-
2005 - Rallye des Alpes
2005 - Euroclassic tour to Sweden
2007 - Classic Adelaide, Australia.
2011- 3 Castles Rally, 16th Overall and 1st in Class.
2017- London to Lisbon Rally 3rd Overall.
The car was also used for a number of private tours which included :-
2005- Sweden & Norway
2007 – Australia - crossing the Nullarbor desert from Adelaide to Perth and driving from Adelaide to Melborne along the Great Ocean Road.
2015 - Tour of France and Corsica
2017- Tour of France, Corsica, Sardinia returning to England via Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium.
This beautiful car which has been sympathetically cared for, may be unique in the fact that it remains unrestored, and does not feature any of the modern up-grades which are usually fitted to a car of this age and nature. OTL 151 has proved that it is a powerful and very capable car on tarmac rallies having achieved 3rd overall on the highly competitive London to Lisbon rally. It is also a pleasure to drive and a very comfortable car for long distance touring.
