1995 Land Rover Defender 90 NAS
The Defender name traces its roots to the 1983 model called either the Ninety with 90-inch wheelbase which employed the Range Rover’s far more comfortable coil springs compared to the chunky leaf springs used for the previous 35 years. Land Rover updated the look itself with cleaner lines, but aluminum body panels remained. Where the Series models before had earned their keep as exploration vehicles in various industries the Defender truly cemented the brand’s overlanding potential. Three wheelbases were offered globally, with various body configurations.
Land Rover officially organized itself in the U.S. in the late 1980s to sell Range Rover SUVs. The primary markets initially consisted of wealthy folk from Greenwich, Connecticut, looking for a daily driver that could cope with winter or for Hollywood movie stars and Dallas billionaires to store at their vacation chalets in Aspen, Colorado. the Defender was a tremendously cool vehicle. In what Land Rover called North American Specification (NAS), the truck was arguably at its best.
This Defender 90 is a North American Spec edition meeting all of the US requirements. The Defender has the fuel injected 3.9 liter aluminum Rover V8 and 5 speed manual transmission with full time 4 wheel drive. It has had a restoration that included a new galvanized chassis, rebuild suspension and engine rebuild. The interior was also restored with re-upholstered front seats and new rear seats. It has a set of steel wheels with toyo tires and the original aluminum wheels included with the sale. We have driven this truck and find it to drive as new. A rare and desirable vehicle!
