Description

This is a 1967 Maserati Quattroporte SII LHD finished in red with beige leather interior. The clock is showing 11,000 miles but we believe the correct mileage to be 111,000.
'The Quattroporte is billed as the world's fastest sedan. It is a highly refined automobile with a four-passenger cruising capability in excess of 100mph, with enough attendant luxuries to compare favourably with non plus ultra of all luxury sedans, the Mercedes-Benz 600 and the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.' - Car & Driver. Styled by Frua and introduced in 1963, the V8-powered Quattroporte was a landmark model for Maserati, being the Modena firm's first four-door saloon and its first car of unitary construction. Styled by Frua and introduced at the 1963 Turin Show, the Quattroporte was powered by a downsized - to 4.2 litres - version of the 5000GT's four-cam V8 and beneath the skin featured independent front suspension and a De Dion rear axle, though the latter was replaced by a conventional elliptically sprung live axle in 1967. Car & Driver recorded a 0-60mph time of 8.7 seconds and wound their Quattroporte up to 120mph, estimating that there was another 10mph still to come, all of which was some going for a fully-equipped four-seater weighing close to 2 tons. The successor Quattroporte II deployed the V6 engine and front-wheel-drive package of the Citroën SM in a body by Bertone,
This super-rare Quattroporte has one of the best sounding engines of any car! This is originally an American market vehicle which means it benefits from having lived in a dry state most of its life. The majority of these cars that are for sale are either rusty wrecks requiring restoration or half finished project cars.
This car was delivered new in June 1967 to West Nyack New York USA and was originally Argento Auteuil/brown. The car was believed to have been gold at some point in it's life (circa 2004) and has since been re-painted. The history file contains a Certificate of Title from the State of Oklahoma issued in November 2009.
The leather interior presents very well and has more than likely been restored at some point. The exterior presents nicely overall but could do with some recommissioning to be aesthetically perfect. The car has a highly desirable 5 speed ZF manual gearbox, is UK registered and was MOT'd until 2017 with no advisories. She's been in storage since then so would need some fettling before being used on a daily basis. That said, the car starts first time and drives nicely. This car represents great value and a good useable example of a rare LHD QP.
