Description
This fine Mercedes 300 Adenauer was initially registered on the 2nd January 1953. Its Swiss heritage belies its typically Swiss carefully preserved current state. This W186 got its nickname from the fact that for many years the 300 was used by former Bundeskanzler Konrad Adenauer as his official car. The ‘300’ denotes the 3000 cc engine size. This engine block formed the basis for the one used in the 300 SL W198. It was a top-class car of its time. Similar in price and luxury to the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud and the BMW 501, it outshone both of these when it came to performance. With its top-speed of over 160 km/hr, it was very popular with important business people and politicians of the day. This Mercedes formed part of a collection and has been perfectly maintained and preserved. Never requiring full restoration, it did have a re-spray in the past. The fine bodywork has good quality panelling. All of the chrome decorative parts are in fine condition.. The really well cared for interior exudes a fine patina. This is a rather special handmade limousine!
