Description

The vehicle was purchased in March 2017 from a Classic Car dealer who had purchased the vehicle with the intention of restoration but became too busy with other restoration work for paying clients. The vehicle according to the V5C was first registered on the 3rd March 1967. Since March 2017, I have stripped the shell completely and embarked on a fully restoration completing mid 2020. The shell required replacement rear spring front attachment points and the offside rear attachment point/box section along with the Battery cradle (this had been removed prior to receipt of the vehicle) other than that the shell was sound. The engine was overhauled with all white metal bearings replaced to match regrind to camshaft and crankshaft.  The block was re-bored to match a set of replacement of pistons. The original head was cracked and was replaced with a new 'lead free' head complete with new valves springs and guides, oil pump and water pump were also replaced. The carburettors are the original 11/2"SU HS4s but overhauled with new jets etc. All cooling system hoses have been replaced along with the radiator. The gear box was fully overhauled with replacement parts as required and the overdrive was replaced with new. New fuel tank and system including all pipework, pump and fittings. Hydraulic braking system fully overhauled with new parts adding Servo vented front discs with four pot callipers. All electrical wiring replaced with new loom, conversion to alternator, conversion from positive earth to negative, addition of new fuse box with lighting relays etc. loom modified before installation to cater for driving lamps, front fog lamps, rear fog lamps, heated rear screen and interposing relays for brake lights and indicator lamps. New single 12V battery and starter motor were required. Front and rear screens and door glazing replaced. Suspension front and rear upgraded with gas shock absorbers and front coil overs, replacement new rear springs with all poly. bushes. The interior has been completely replaced with new and the dash board renovated. New stainless steel exhaust including the manifold has been installed. The body shell has been professionally resprayed in Old English White (changed from the original colour of red as shown on the V5C received when vehicle purchased)and all sealing rubbers for doors, bonnet, tailgate and glazing replaced with new, together with the bulk of the bright work. Wheels have been replaced with 15x5.5" 'mini-lite' style type along with 185x65x15 Bridgestone tyres. The speedo is reading 32197 miles which I believe to be accurate as according to the DVLA road tax check site the last time the vehicle was taxed was 1984. I have a full set of invoices and pictorial record for the work/parts I have carried out and copies of invoices for work previously carried out over the period 1988 to 1996 prior to my ownership.
