MGC Roadster 1968 // University Motors Supplied Home Market Car // Fully Documented Restoration
Interior & Equipment
The original seats were re-upholstered by a specialist MG restorer in cream leather during the restoration in 2008 but recently changed back to the original specification black leather piped in red as per it left the factory, the door cards replaced the facia restored. The Motalita steering wheel is perfect also comes complete with the original 3 spoke Banjo MG steering wheel and octagon centre cap which again is in perfect order. All clocks and gauges work perfectly and have crystal clear glass. All switches work as they should as does the heater. New black carpets were fitted along with correct MG rubber floor mats… Perfect
Completely blemish free in the original factory colour of Tartan Red. The original body shell was subject to a complete full bare metal body restoration in 2008. The bodywork today is still outstanding with factory panel fit, perfect shut lines and gaps. A full photographic log of the restoration is included in the history file detailing the attention to detail that that went into the preparation of this lovely MG before the final paint being applied.
All the original bright work was replated by Reeve Metal Finishers in 2008 and again totally blemish free and uniformed finish. The black mohair hood is perfect and screens all very clear. The underside is solid throughout and full undersealed.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The original 5J steel painted disc wheels and chrome hub caps were all fully restored in 2008 and are still unmarked. Sitting on excellent all matching Michelin Energy 185/65 R15 tyres. During the extensive restoration the servo assisted brakes were all renewed with new front brake calipers, discs rear drums, and brake lines needless to say the braking power is excellent. Steering is precise and responsive, handling superb courtesy of the all new Spax shock absorbers.
Engine & Transmission
The original matching numbers water-cooled o.h.v. six-cylinder in-line 2912cc engine is superb. The engine was rebuilt in 1987 at approx 70k miles by Osselli and the head converted to stage 1. A further head refresh taking it to stage 2 was carried out in 2011 at 81k miles by MG Specialist Mike Rolls of Dorset. Needless to say she responds superbly, pulls strong in every gear, perfect oil pressure and idles faultlessly. Overdrive in 3rd and 4thgears which operates in and out very smoothly, the gearbox and clutch are light and precise and she sounds glorious through the full stainless steel exhaust, that six-cylinder music is simply… Magical

More Details
The first project code allocated in 1961 for the new six-cylinder MGC sports car was ADO52 but it wasn’t until 1965 that the first prototype MGC Roadster was manufactured. Initially starting life as a pre 1965 MGB pull handle body shell, assembled by Pressed Steel in Swindon Wiltshire. The original shell was then taken to the Morris Bodies Plant in Coventry where extensive "off tools" modifications were made to accommodate the torsion bar front suspension necessary to take the Alec Issigonis newly designed seven bearing six-cylinder engine.
A two-year production span was all the MGC enjoyed before being withdrawn in September 1969 with a total of 8,999 cars being built; 4,542 were roadsters and 4,457 were in GT form.
