We proudly present this lovely 1963 Austin Mini, built and prepared for historic rallying.
This Austin Mini has been built from the ground upwards to period 'Downton' specification. Engine was rebuilt by top Mini tuner/ maestro Nick Swift of Swiftune. Naturally, when this restoration undertook it was Nick's advice that was sought. A full 'Downton' conversion was carried out, and on completion the engine was dynamometer tested at 67.5hp @6500rpm – roughly the same output as a stock 1,275cc Cooper 'S'! Incorporating a competition gearbox and an all-new drive train and brakes, this car is a stunning example of what can be achieved.
The Swiftune Engine was built to the following spec,
Race 33/31mm plasma hardened Cylinder head,, with 21-4N stainless steel valves, Bronze valve guides, gas flowed, rally valve springs, steel top caps.
Swiftune 1.5 roller tip rockers.
Engine block has been chemically and steam cleaned, bored and honed to 65mm, line bore and new cam bearings fitted, centre main strap.
Crankshaft has been re ground, balanced and polished jurnels.
Conrods balanced and floating L/E 998
Pistons are CNC billet 65mm Lightweight.
Vandervell heavy duty
Camshaft is a Swifttune SW5-07 Billet, cross drilled and tuftrided.
Swiftune alloy centre vernier timing
850 balanced crank pulley
Dyno-mapped, S points and Swiftune condenser
Running on Twin H2 SU carburettors
Retro Steel flywheel, Cooper S balanced clutch.
Producing 67.5Hp @ 6500rpm.
Cost to build the engine from Swiftune was over £10,000 (invoice in history file)

NFF 592' has been prepared for historic rallying and to that end is equipped with all the FIA required rallying accessories. The rebuild was completed in December 2013, and the car's shakedown event was the demanding Winter RAID St Moritz, at the conclusion of which its all-girl crew came home with the Ladies' Prize having demonstrated an impressive turn of speed on the snow and ice.
This car is ready to use. It comes with a comprehensive history file containing a extensive photographic record of the restoration.
