1938 MG TA - extensive restoration (1938)

1938 MG TA – extensive restoration

Strikingly finished in Oxford & Cambridge blue, this MG TA is a fine example in all respects
The first of the legendary ‘T’ Series MG Midgets, the TA was the successor to the PB Series and debuted in 1936.

Power came from a Morris Ten derived engine, which displaced 1292cc and meant that this new model could achieve almost 80 mph, allied to brisk acceleration.

When production of the TA ceased in 1939 with the introduction of the TB model, some 3003 TA models had been produced.

This fine example was the subject of a ‘bare chassis’ restoration between 1974 and 2001.
Upon completion it was driven to the MG International event at Silverstone where it won a Pride of Ownership award.

In the intervening years, this MG has been cosseted and remains in exceptional condition. Still retaining its original engine, it has all the correct tools in the under-bonnet trays.

The original registration number is ‘period correct’ being stencilled onto the backplates.

There is a large file of paperwork accompanying the MG, which includes a photograph album showing the stages of the rebuild. Also provided is a green RF60 Continuation Logbook and the original Instruction Manual for the MG Midget Series TA and TB.
There is full weather equipment which is also in first class order.
