Description

1973 Land Rover Series 3 2.25 petrol 88”
Built 12/04/1973 and first registered 31/05/1973
Bought from its first owner in 2017 as a genuine 38,000 miles, matching numbers example, this beautiful Series 3 has been subject to one of the most comprehensive and detailed restorations I’ve ever seen and has to be one of the best examples in the UK. It is a big claim but the level of detail and the finish is superb in every way and needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Starting out as a 1973 Limestone example it was purchased new by the first owner a Lieutenant Colonel who kept it until 2014 when it passed to his nephew. It was then acquired in 2017 by a Land Rover master technician (2nd owner) who embarked on an extensive 3 year nut and bolt restoration.
Once finished it was sold in January 2021 (3rd owner) to a gentleman in Devon who dry stored it and only drove it very periodically when I procured it for a customer of mine (4th owner) in May 2021 who unfortunately is now making space for another vehicle and feels it’s too good for him to drive in the way he wants and has therefore only covered circa 270 miles in his ownership.
The build and parts list is too extensive to list here but points of note are:
Numbers matching (original factory delivered engine)
New hand built powder coated Davey’s chassis
New British made bulkhead
New Old Stock dash top, NOS grill, NOS bonnet, NOS Lucas lights
Numerous new or rebuilt and powder coated parts
New floors, doors and doors tops
New outer wing skins
New front prop shaft
Everything rebuilt including engine, gearbox and transfer box
2 original British Leyland keys
Heritage certificate
Buff literature pack including owners manual
Blue Passport to service with documented service stamps still in its original plastic wallet with accompanying dealer certificate from supplying dealer Peters Motors, Renfrewshire and associated literature.
All paperwork is amazingly well preserved and really adds to the significant provenance of this vehicle.
Photo booklet with build photos to accompany the vehicle.
An amazing opportunity to purchase an historical icon thats sure to please anyone behind the wheel. This Series 3 will turn heads and could win future concours events. It drives beautifully and is a credit to the LR master technician who set out on his journey to create such a stunning, time warp example.
Fresh MOT valid until 01/03/2024
