In 1982, on the rise of the consensus obtained by the 924 and the push towards more performing engines, Porsche launches its older sister with a more sporty bodywork with widened fenders and larger spoilers, while the new 2,749 cc injection engine is able to deliver 163. CV and reach a top speed of 220km / h.
In conjunction with a restyling of the interior (new dashboard, door panels, and seats), the 944 Turbo was presented in 1985, powered by a supercharged version of the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, credited with 220 HP and a max speed. . of 245 km / h.
In 1987 Porsche presented the 944S, with a 4-valve cylinder head and 190 HP of power, while at the same time all 944s underwent a further restyling.
The following year it was the turn of the Turbo S with an enhanced 250 hp engine and max. of 260 km / h.
In 1989 all the 944 aspirated were unified in a single model, the 944 S2 with a 2,990 cc engine of 211 HP while the 944 S2 Cabriolet version was presented to the market.
The 944 epic ended in 1991 with the launch of the 944 Turbo Cabriolet, a rarity produced in only 652 units.
