1932 Riley 9 Gamecock - Present owner over 20 years (1932)

1932 Riley 9 Gamecock - Present owner over 20 years
Reputed to have been named after the RAF’s Gloster Gamecock fighter plane, this sporting two seater Riley made its debut at the 1931 Olympia Motor Show as part of a new range of models for the 1932 season.
The Gamecock attracted considerable interest, with its low-slung, rakish and purposeful appearance and long tail, which offered generous luggage capacity. The sporting theme was continued with a fold-flat windscreen.
Smartly finished in British Racing Green with black wings, the Gamecock we offer here has been with its present owner for the past 21 years. During this time a considerable amount has been lavished upon it, this having included an engine rebuild with a new crankshaft, camshafts and timing gears. The flywheel has been lightened and the cylinder head has has hardened valve inserts. The radiator has been re-cored and the magneto and dynamo rebuilt. The gearbox has also been overhauled and has the benefit of an updated second gear.
The weather equipment is good and serviceable and, in all, this is a well maintained and genuine example of this sporting two seat Riley.
