1937 Riley Lynx-Sprite - Major professional restoration
(Please note this car has just arrived and is awaiting detailed preparation.  Additional photographs and a video will be updated as soon as she is ready.)
Following its introduction in the Autumn of 1934, the 12/4 Lynx was to prove very popular, being a comfortable 4 seat tourer with sporting lines and a good level of equipment. The Lynx was to remain in Riley catalogues until the Company was taken over by Nuffield in 1938.
From 1936, the engine from the Sprite sports car was available as an option on the Kestrel and Lynx models, which gave these cars a level of performance virtually unrivalled in their class, with maximum speed in excess of 80 mph.
Today, the Lynx Sprite is a very desirable Riley and justifiably sought after, as they rarely become available.
Presented here is a fine example of the marque, first registered in Surrey on 5th February 1937. Clearly the first owner was an enthusiastic motorist, as he entered the car in the Riley Motor Club Continental Rally that year and photos are on file showing the car competing.
During the early post war period the car was to see further competition use, participating in several Riley Motor Club trials and also the 1952 Daily Express Rally, photos of this event are also included.
During 1963, the Riley was dismantled for restoration and it was to pass through the hands of several owners who undertook various tasks but never actually completed the rebuild.
Fast-forward to 2007, when the present owner acquired the car and undertook to complete it. Ian Gladstone rebuilt the engine and the body frame was totally renewed by Bruce Bellamy. The renewal of the  upholstery was undertaken by Steve Bowles and the car was repainted in its original livery of black with green wheels. The car was finally completed in 2015.
Since the restoration being finished, just over 1300 miles have been covered and the car is now ready for the next chapter of its long and distinguished life.
Two substantial files are supplied containing a number of period photos, plus a record of the restoration and a buff RF60 logbook dating from 1957.
