Volkswagen T1 21 Windows (1964)

Volkswagen T1 "21 glass" - 1964

The Volkswagen T1 is a "weird" symbolic object of the sixties and seventies, which was born from the vision of Ben Pon, the Dutch importer of Volkswagen. In 1947 Pon noticed a curious trolley set up on the body of a Beetle used to transport materials inside a factory. The dazzling idea was to transform that strange work object into a road vehicle. Thus was born the project that took the name of Typ 2.
Production began in 1950 with the intention of offering families a low-cost vehicle for traveling comfortably, but the success was far greater than expected. The "samba buses" became a real cultural revolution and the hippy movement made it its ideological manifesto linked to the new lifestyle in freedom. Obviously on four wheels.
The production of the T1 stopped in 1967, while the passion for the Volkswagen minibus cannot be said as well, which still remains a legendary piece for collectors today.
