Maserati 3500 GT Perfectly restored and mechanically rebuilt, matching numbers Maserati certified, sought after 5-speed and disc (1961)

This is truly quite a sensational rarity. A matching numbers 1961 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spyder with carburettors, a manual 5-speed and disc brakes. We do not see many of them come our way. What is even more amazing is the beautiful state of restoration it is in. This Maserati is in one word: immaculate. The car itself is not only wonderful it has a fantastic amount of documentation dating back to 1968!
Any work has purely been executed by internationally renowned Maserati experts. It will come as no surprise that this Maserati’s bodywork passes muster. Michelotti, working for Vignale, signed off on the design and the coachbuilder brought the brilliant design to life. It is nothing short of a masterpiece! A good design is only half the story, it also needs a wonderful build. The stunning bodywork has nice and thin, exquisitely aligned panelwork. The car sports a recently replaced hood in perfect shape. The hood is a good fit and simple to operate. As opposed to many current cars the 3500 GT Vignale Spyder is also a lust to behold with its hood up. The car balances on beautiful top- condition Borrani wheels shod of course in good quality and correctly sized tyres.
The car has recently been sympathetically fully reupholstered by one of the best upholsterers. The interior is nothing other than pristine. New carpets have been meticulously and perfectly laid. The impressive dashboard is flawless. Every piece of equipment is naturally in the best working order. The seats and rear bench have beautiful fantastic quality brown leather upholstery. The quality of the work is unsurpassed. The tonneau cover continues the same quality line as everything else.
Mechanically they also did their job to an exacting standard. The specialist rebuilt engine runs fantastically well. The 3.5 Tipo 101 straight-six develops 220 Ps and transfers its power through the, as optional extra fitted, 5-speed manual as opposed to the standard 4-speed. The smooth running engine is fed by three twin, fully refurbished, Weber carburettors. The precise gear change is well suited to this open Maserati’s sportive character. The disc brakes provide a modern touch to the car and allow you to divest oneself from any excess speed. The Maserati’s drive has been improved because of detailed attention to its suspension, shocks, springs and wishbones. This has resulted is a car that is stunning to both admire and to drive.
The accompanying paperwork is wonderful. There are letters dating back to 1968 as well as a perfect tally of recent work. There is also a Maserati Classiche certificate confirming the matching numbers authenticity as well as a factory build sheet. This is the very pinnacle, a prime example of one of the most beautiful Italian open top cars ever made.
