An impressively substantial, very handsome and well-proportioned traditional limousine, in generally smart, sound condition. Nicely painted in black & pale yellow, although there are some blemishes and defects to the paintwork, overall the appearance is good, attractively set off by the polished aluminium wheel discs, correct P100 headlights and rear-mounted trunk. The interior is black leather to the front and totally appropriate beige corded cloth to the rear, which is relatively recent and in excellent condition, as are the headlining and carpets. A large, spacious car, running nicely, offered serviced, prepared and newly MoT tested.

Charles Dickson (1862/1944) was a 2nd generation Candle & Tallow manufacturer – the company was originally a partnership between Charles Snr 1837/1894 and his brothers Stair & Alexander, in 1877 they formed a limited company - Dickson Candle Works Ltd of Loanhead.  In 1861 Charles Snr married Julia Currie and between 1862 & 1877 they had 8 children consisting of 2 boys and 6 girls with Charles Jnr being their eldest child.  In 1894 after their father died the family firm was taken over by his sons Charles Jnr & John, in December 1907 John retired leaving his brother Charles to carry on.  In 1892 Charles married Helen Baillie & they settled down at View Bank, Lasswade; their gardener was Duncan McKay who was credited with producing winning blooms of Orchids & Geraniums.  In the 1904 Royal Caledonian Horticultural Show in Edinburgh the winning display of Orchids submitted by Charles Dickson was some 10 feet long!  Other Dickson family members included Doctors, Brewers & owners of Jamaican Plantations with names such as Glen Islay (obviously a whisky drinker).
