Calling all Lego fans! The Danish masters of interlocking plastic bricks have yet another set to delight classic car enthusiasts with the launch of this Fiat 500.

But that’s not all.

To celebrate, the firm even built an amazing life-sized model of a classic Fiat 500 (almost entirely) from Lego bricks.

As you can imagine, that 1:1 build was no small undertaking.

It took 830 man-hours to complete and uses 189,032 bricks, plus an original Fiat 500 steering wheel. Its weight? 400kg.

And we think it’s fair to say Lego has done a fantastic job! Want to see it for yourself? It was launched in Turin and will be touring Lego stores in Italy throughout March and April.

Going back to the brand-new Lego Creator Expert Fiat 500 kit itself…

This 960-piece set is available now and is based on a late ’60s Fiat 500F Legend.

Details include a full interior, a working sunroof, a spare tyre, luggage and a rack to fit it to, and an opening bonnet – in other words, it’s ready for a pint-sized road trip.

After all, it also comes with a folding easel, an artist’s palette and a picture of the car outside Rome’s Colosseum.

It stands over 4” (11cm) tall, is 9” (24cm) long and is 4” (11cm) wide.

“The Fiat 500 is a global automotive icon,” said Lego designer Pierre Normandin. “To see it celebrated in the beautiful city of Turin with this incredible new Creator Expert set and such an epic life-size build is testament to how beloved this car is.”

“Throughout its illustrious history, the Fiat 500 has surpassed its original material manifestation to take its place in the collective unconscious, becoming an international icon,” added Cristiano Fiorio, Head of Brand Marketing Communication, FCA EMEA Region.

“We know well that the Lego Group handpicks iconic products, and that the Fiat 500 is not only a car but an artistic and cultural phenomenon”.
