Le Mans Classic
30th June – 3rd July 2022

Join like-minded enthusiasts and the Classic & Sports Car editorial team on a tour to the world’s greatest historic endurance motor racing event. This will be the fourth edition of the Classic & Sports Car Le Mans Classic Reader Run. Alongside our partner Travel Destinations we have assembled a package to offer you, the reader, all the elements required for a superb weekend in La Sarthe.

The package includes travel from Portsmouth to Caen with Brittany Ferries on its overnight sailing, a range of accommodation options and race tickets for the weekend. There is plenty more included, so do read on.

After an enjoyable drive to Le Mans via a breakfast stop in a picturesque French town, you will arrive at your chosen accommodation.

There is an option of camping in the circuit at the Travel Destinations private campsite at Porsche Curves, a civilised way to be under canvas for the weekend with a trackside location, food and drink outlet and superb toilet and shower facilities.

The second option is also based at the circuit in the Travel Destinations pop-up ‘Flexotel’ accommodation, situated in the Antares Sud area of the track. For those who want to stay at the track but with a solid roof over your head, this is for you.

Finally, there is the hotel option. The Ibis Pontlieu is just 10 minutes’ drive from Tertre Rouge. The hotel has secure gated parking, plus a restaurant and bar. The hotel is just a short walk to a tram stop.

Thursday 30th June
The Classic & Sports Car Reader Run start point is the Village Hotel in Portsmouth. The hotel is conveniently situated for the ferry port, has plenty of parking, a pub & grill and a Starbucks cafe. A great place to relax ahead of the journey and meet fellow Reader Run participants and the magazine staff before boarding the ferry. It is just a short drive to the ferry port for the 22.45 hrs departure, your on-board accommodation is reserved for you.

Friday 1st July
The ferry is scheduled to arrive at 06.45 hrs, you have a breakfast stop organised 45 minutes into your journey, in the pretty town of Putanges. From here you continue onto the pre-planned D-road route down to Le Mans. You will have a detailed roadbook to follow, making your journey easy and enjoyable.

Once checked in to your chosen accommodation, you can head out to watch the action on track as the cars start their practice sessions. This evening you are invited to the Classic & Sports Car BBQ at the circuit.

Saturday 2nd July
The real action starts today and you have general entry and paddock passes supplied, getting you to the heart of the action. You will also have access to parking on the infield of the circuit where we will have a marquee and offer light refreshments over the weekend.

Sunday 3rd July
The racing continues through to 15.00 hrs this afternoon. Ensure you take the time explore the clubs parking, where thousands of classic cars line the whole of the Bugatti circuit.

Monday 4th July
You have plenty of time to return to the port of Caen by 15:45 hrs for the 16:30 hrs crossing arriving back into Portsmouth at 21:15 hrs.
