Festival / shows
A free weekend celebration of ground-breaking science and engineering,
music and art, talks and workshops that includes a recreation of London’s first car show
at its birthplace, the Imperial Institute (now part of Imperial College) 120 years on.
The revival will bring together a fascinating collection of static and working machinery
– the oldest vehicle on show being a replica of the 1885/’86 Benz Tricycle, plus steam-powered
vehicles, such as an 1896 Salvesen, and electric cars such as the 1901 Waverley Electric.
The event is open from 12-6pm on the Saturday and 12-5pm on the Sunday, at Imperial’s
South Kensington Campus, Exhibition Road, London, SW7 2AZ
(the nearest tubes are South Kensington or Gloucester Road).
