While I was blasting around in the Facel-Vega HK 500 having a load fun ,the OH tried the car but decided it was too much of a handfull for her especially in the rain so to keep her enthusiasm going we bought a "Facellia" 1600cc twin-cam convertable. Knowing that the engine was suspect for reliablity the first job completed was an engine rebuild to our own specification which involved considerable "Dynamometer-Time"to achieve a better motor set-up resulting in trouble free motoring for the rest of the time we owned the car. The photo negative got damaged during a house flood.

Here is a slightly improved photo of the small variety Facel-vega Facellia, when I first got this car it was painted British racing green which did not seem oppropriate for a French car, the OH was not into blue cars so we ended up repainting it the new " Blazin Italian rosso"

Wow,

Rolymo now ranks up there among the great motoring heroes, he even goes one better than Ava Gardner's Excellence, Ringo's Facel II or Stirling's HK500, not only did he have an HK500, then improved it, then he did the same to a Facelia.

We are not worthy!

Chris M.

ps, that is NOT sarcasm.

Hi Chris, I am generally reluctant to blow my own trumpet or seek out the limelight where cars are concerned, I prefer to turn spanners, weld, and machine and build motors. Being a qualified automobile engineer and diagnostic technician with many years’ hands on experience it is like being a “Guru”. Cars tend to find me; the more obscure and the more complicated they are the more likely they are to turn up on my doorstep. I am fortunate in having been a dedicated “petrol head” who was able to spend the majority of a long life as a self employed car-nut with long periods in England (classics), Germany (race cars) USA (restorations) and now? My list of owned cars is like an A to Z of approx 200 models but now they are confined to either my memory or my PC that’s “retirement “ but when I say :- “ Been there done that  I  do mean it!

A favourite find at a recent car show atEastern Creek Raceway was this HK500 - how's this for an interior, red leather and that famous painted fake wood dash panel.
