Spotted: classic cars on the road
A DS 23 ie Pallas, spotted this week-end at Lisbon...
Same town and day, a 928 S4 running on GPL...
Well I am not surprised that a fan of the seventies angular Lotus models likes this too. I always had a liking for the GT4 but for many years it remained the bargain Ferrari, although I suspect it is now old enough to be regarded as classic and collectable. For my taste this Bertone design (and the more common Pininfarina 308/328 models) were the last 'pretty' Ferraris and given the excesses of more recent designs they are looking more attractive every day - especially in a colour other than red!
The problem is that, as nice as GT4 is, that bargain condition pushed it for years to the hands of owners neglecting them (the same as porsche 944 and so many others) and as a consecuence the few good ones that remain are not that bargain anymore and the cheap ones cost serious money to sort.
Spotted this morning doing the school run in South West London.
You mean the Wolseley or the Hyundai ?
I know which one will still be doing the job in ten years, and it isn't the bright blue thingy nearest the camera.
Spotted in Lisbon these days.
A VW Type 1 1302..
A Mini with some strange spec...
Those AA badges are a fashion here over the 70's and 80's, my oncle Fernado had one at is BMW 02
Another VW aircooled, this time a Type 2 "Bay" and a repost. A few months ago I spot this van on polish plates in a surf spot near Lisbon, it seems that the polish surfers still around and the sea salt start his work on the body and trim...
A crossover between a classic and sportscar, parked in a Lisbon street. Caterhams or Lotus Seven are a rare sight over here...
A Fiat 600 spotted yesterday at Tomar, a small vilage somhere in the midle of Portugal...
A Lotus Elan, spotted yesterday at Cascais (Lisbon area)...
Spotted at the BMW dealership in Kingston Jamaica where my son is IT director. This car is owned by the Commissioner of Police a lifelong Rover fanatic.
Re: Recent school run sighting of Elf / Hornet. If that's Chartfield Avenue then as a kid I used to live from where you were standing. On the driveway of the 30's flats were parked over the years a Triumph 2000 / 2500 saloon (dark blue MEG189F) - must have been unreliable as the owner supplanted it with a Volvo 240 (his wife being Swedish may also have been the reason but he Triumph lingered for years - , a yellow Lotus Europa, Morris Oxford Farina, dark red Dolomite Sprint owned by the Morris chap. Also, the caretaker Johnson ("old Clear Orf!!") had in the garages around the back a black 30's Lanchester taxi. Further along the road on my way to school were an Elan 2+2 silver over dark blue and a Toyota Crown Coupe (the only one I've ever seen) in white with the most extraordinary dark blue tinted windows.
