McLaren F1 LM

| 30 Jun 2015

The classic car world's attention was fixed firmly on Woking this year as Rowan Atkinson's McLaren F1 – the same that he crashed and then had the firm rebuild – came up for sale with a price tag of £8million. Already smitten, we fell in love all over again while road testing another F1 for our Supercar Legends issue (C&SC June 2015), where it proved itself a wonder of modern engineering against some stiff competition from the likes of the Porsche 959 and Ferrari 365BB.

It's no wonder then that we're fairly excited about this example, which is set to cross the block at RM Sotheby's Monterey sale. We can tell you it's one of just two converted to LM specification by the factory, including the 691bhp engine, but not how much it may fetch – its estimate is yet to be released. We couldn't wait to share this superb photo set with you.
