The 236 has the old ex-Whitley long-stroke six-cylinder engine and mostly uses Lockheed Manumatic two-pedal transmission, while the 234's power unit is a big Sapphire minus two cylinders, a bit rough but giving 2.4 Jaguar performance, with a conventional gearbox and optional overdrive. Handles better than a Mk1 Jag, too.
