5-seater 4-door saloon.

Completely restyled, longer large saloon from Bavaria, from now VW-owned company. Familiar front-wheel drive layout, but engine enlarged from old model, and given overhead cam layout (as found in other cars, including Porsche 924). No estate version, but five cylinder engined cars dominated this range. (1588cc ohv engine in home market only.)
