MORGAN 4/4 1600/COMPETITION

2-door 2-seater/4-seater sports car/tourer.

Sixth generation of 4/4s reborn in 1955, this with same familiar chassis, rock-hard suspension and thirties-looking body, but with 1.6-litre Ford 'Kent' engine and gearbox. In 1970, choice of 74bhp or 88bhp (competition) engine tunes, but all cars with more powerful engine thereafter. Some with light-alloy bodies (same shape, lighter, extra cost), but no style changes for many years. Still made, though from 1982 Ford CVH or Fiat twin-cam engines were used. Now firmly locked in its own time capsule.
