OPEL COMMODORE (1972-77)
2-door/4-door 5-seater saloon/coupé.
While the Rekord was a Vauxhall Victor equivalent, the Commodore was Opel's 'Ventora' - using the Rekord's structure, styling, and choice of saloon or coupé bodies, but with s mooth in-line six-cylinder cam-in-head engines. Power from 115bhp to 160bhp, the latter with fuel injection in GS/E derivatives. Smart though Germanic trim and fittings, with optional automatic and optional power steering (standard on top-level GS/Es). Fast and desirable cars by any GM standards - with top speeds ranging from 105mph to 120mph. Replaced in '78 by new Senator.
