RILEY 16 HP
Saloon, Kestrel saloon, drophead saloon.
At least Nuffields had the grace to offer the 16hp chassis with a body that was attractive, the Kestrel, which even had wire wheels. '39 versions had louvred bonnets, '40 cars had no bonnet side trim. The 116ins wheelbase frame was effectively a lengthened 12hp chassis, the four speed 'box was fitted, the engine was a modified Big Four, but such features as a floor mounted dipswitch, the cam and roller steering and umbrella handle handbrake didn't meet with approval from the purists.
