This one formed the basis of the original Railton, and no wonder as it had straight line performance on a par with a 41/2-litre Bentley. 113ins wheelbase frame had cruciform bracing, and three speed 'box came with option of automatic clutch. Remarkable value at £365, making it one on the world's cheapest straight eights, and it was very popular with English coachbuilders.
