TOYOTA CELICA (1977-82)

2-door 4-seater coupé/hatchback coupé.

Even more of a Capri-type then ever before, this second-generation Celica had masses of engines (only 'fours' in the UK), the longer-type of Carina wheelbase (see above), and a five-speed gearbox on all varieties. Still with live axle rear end, and ST, XT and (twi-cam) GT derivatives. A few with automatic transmission, but most UK Celicas had 2-litre engines. 'Liftback' (hatchback) had a long sloping tail, and was very practical. Toyota's front-line rally car, with twin-cam engines, for some years.
