East German development of 1940 three-cylinder DKW. Separate chassis, four-on-column plus freewheel, rack steering, beam axle-rear, and heavy brakes. Saloon UK-available as 992cc 311 from July 1964, with estate coming in 1966 and being sold into 1967. For 1966 new 312 has irs.
