Bertone concept to sell at BMW auction

The striking Bertone Spicup that once wowed crowds at Geneva is to go under the hammer later this year.

The London sale house has consigned the BMW-powered concept car for its BMW marque sale in late October.

Based on a shortened BMW 2000CS platform, the 2.5-litre 'straight six' powered concept car showcased the then-new Targa top concept and boasted a matching green leather interior, complete with metallic silver inlays.

The Bertone design statement (estimate on request) was unveiled at the 1969 Geneva Salon and later went on to cover over 100,000km at the hands of a long term owner - which is seriously impressive by concept car standards - before being restored in recent years.

It also starred Concorso D’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 2009 but, crucially, hasn't been shown at Pebble Beach or any other US concours event yet.

The sale will take place in conjunction with BMW at its Munich headquarters. See: for more.
