Bonhams teams up with Munich marque

| 22 Jun 2011

London sale Bonhams has added a new marque-specific auction to its busy sale calendar.

'Power by BMW' will take place at BMW's Munich headquarters over the first weekend of October and will span BMW cars, motorcycles and marque-related automobilia.

The announcement comes a month after the London sale house enjoyed one of its most successful ever Aston Martin marque sales at AM's Works Service HQ in Newport Pagnell, with £6m taken from just 44 cars on 21 May.

The success was proof of the value of marque specific fixtures, according to Bonhams European Motoring Division's Robert Glover: "One marque sales allow a focus and clarity of brand not allowed in mixed sales and world record prices are often achieved alongside 100% sale rates."

The London sale house has already consigned a marque icon for the auction: the 1976 Spa Francorchamps 24 Hours-winning (and Le Mans 24 Hour class-winning) 1976 BMW 3.0L CSL 'Batmobile'. It's expected to sell for €325 - 375,000.
