Ex-police Mini an early entry at Silverstone Auctions

| 25 Sep 2012

An ex-Liverpool & Bootle Constabulary Mini Cooper ‘S’ from 1968 will cross the block at Silverstone Auctions’ 17 November sale at the Footman James Classic Motor Show in Birmingham.

Said to be one of only eight in existence, the former traffic car has covered a mere 11,500 miles since its rebuild (from 2002-’10) and was described by the ex-police registrar as “the best restored police Mini Cooper ‘S’ known to me".

The car has made several notable appearances that include leading a parade of 50 of its brethren at the Goodwood Revival in 2009.

It is expected to sell for £18-22,000.

Often favoured by those operating on the other side of the law, and also up for sale, is a Mk 2 Jaguar estimated to raise £24-28,000.

A 3.8, the UK car has covered an MoT-supported 51,000 miles, has been treated to a bare-metal restoration (with a photographic record of the work) and a full interior retrim.
