The barnfind collection of seven cars – headed by a Ferrari 275 GTB/4 that had been off the road since 1975 and which came to light earlier this year (Lost & Found C&SC, May) - went under the hammer for €1.8m at Artcurial’s Automobiles Sur Les Champs/2 sale on 13 June.Predictably, demand for the four-cam Maranello beauty helped bidding punch through the car’s €500 – 700,000 estimate, to take top slot at €790,000.The result boosted takings for the 67-lot Parisian sale (which wasn’t limited to the barn find collection) to €5.3m.

Also selling well from the same vendor in the east of France was a 1935 Hispano Suiza K6 Cabriolet by Letourneur et Marchand which bust its €200 – 300,000 estimate after changing hands for €451,000.

The remaining five cars from the collection sold well too with a Franay-bodied 1937 Hispano-Suiza J12 (€100 – 200,000) making €182,508 while a couple of 1960s Maseratis – a ’66 Mistral (€20 – 30,000) and a ’69 Ghibli (€30 – 40,000) made €44,817 and €56, 611 respectively. Also strong was a 1967 Lancia Flaminia Cabriolet (€25 – 45,000) which made €54,252.
