A 1949 Buick Roadmaster that starred in the Oscar-winning film Rain Man with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman is to be sold in Dallas on 14 December by Heritage Auctions.
Expected to make more than $80,000, the convertible features a 320cu in Fireball straight-eight, a two-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission and suspension that’s been modified to take the extra weight of a cameraman and his equipment.
Margaret Barrett from Heritage said: "The plot of [Rain Man] essentially revolves around this beautiful vehicle, making it more than just a piece of screen-used memorabilia. It’s the catalyst for the entire movie."
