Yenko Camaro and famous dragsters head 25th Spring Classic

| 23 Mar 2012

A 1967 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro, one of fewer than 10 known to exist and the only Butternut Yellow example to have survived, is one of the early star consignments for Mecum's Spring Classic Auction.

Taking place on 15-20 May at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, the sale is Mecum's  25th Original Spring Classic Auction and a huge 2100 cars are expected to cross the block over the six days.

Among them will be (at least) three appealing Vettes, the 1963 ZO6 piloted by the legendary Mickey Thompson at Bonneville (two above),  a fully restored 1968 L88 Convertible (above) and the very last L88 Corvette to roll down the assembly line (below).

NHRA drag racing heroes Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme and 'TV Tommy Ivo will watch a couple of their important dragsters take centre stage.

Prudhomme will offer the record-breaking 1982 Pontiac Trans Am 'Pepsi Challenger' from his private collection (above), while the 1974 Streamlined Top Fuel Dragster piloted and, more famously, crashed by Tommy Ivo (below) will go up for sale just moments later.
