Awesome display of cars and aircraft promised at Sywell

| 7 Aug 2013

Race cars ranging from a Lagonda-based 1935 Eccles Rapier and to Michael Schumacher’s Belgian-GP winning 1992 Benetton will star at Sywell Classic Pistons and Props on 28-29 September.

The 50 cars set to appear at the live show, which is held at Northamptonshire’s Sywell Aerodrome, also include a Brooke ERA Special, Lotus Elite, MG Sprint special, Buckler DD2, a V8-powered Vauxhall Firenza, MGBs plus Jaguars such as the D-type and the XJR-9.

As well as the track action on the Racing Runway, 20 classic and vintage Dragsters will go head-to-head on the 200-meter Sprint Strip and there will be a static club display of more than 300 cars.

As the name suggests, ’planes will be a big part of the event, with Chipmunks, Be2s, Tiger Moths and Tomahawks set to take to the sky.
There will also be displays from Hangar 11’s Spitfires, the Trig Aerobatic Team and the Breitling Wingwalkers.

Other activities take the form of a vintage funfair, the Wall of Death and live music – from the all-girl harmony group Elle, the Pocket Belles and The Hound Dogs.

Advanced tickets can be bought on the event’s website and are priced at £14 for adults and £5 for children (5-15 year-olds), while under-fives go free. Camping pitches cost £70 for two adults and two children.
