E-type birthday hype continues

| 9 Jun 2011

If you thought Jaguar enthusiasts were truly sated on the E-type 50th front, think again: Esher’s Sandown Park racecourse is set to host yet another golden anniversary celebration.

The 3 September bash is being sponsored by model guru Classic Motor Cars, which is calling on all E-type owners to attend.

Entry (for those bringing an E-type) will be free and CMC and Jaguar Heritage are jointly planning a display of half a dozen iconic examples of the famous feline roadster, including the ex-Lofty England coupe (the first ‘production’ E-type) and the last example to roll out of Browns Lane.

CMC boss Peter Neumark is aiming for a celebratory event that offers something for everyone: “We will have experts on hand to give advice about restoring and maintaining Jaguars but there will be many other Jaguar activities including a Concours d'Elegance. Cars do not have to be pristine, it will be a fun event and there will be a variety of classes and prizes.”

The one-day event will also feature an art gallery, dedicated to works depicting the famous Coventry sports car, while the Maidenhead Static Model Club will be on hand with a display of Jaguar  tinplate and die-cast models.
