James Bond Aston Martin on show at Hershey

| 7 Apr 2015

One of the original Aston Martin DB5s used in the film Goldfinger will be one of the major draws at The Elegance at Hershey, which is due to take place from 12-14 June.

The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 featured in both Goldfinger and Thunderball and comes fully equipped with all of its gadgets. It was bought by radio broadcaster Jerry Lee in 1969 and stayed in his ownership for more than three decades, before later being bought at auction by its current owner Harry Yeaggy. It cost £2,912,000.

“Having this iconic and instantly recognisable car at The Elegance is an absolute thrill on so many levels,” said Mark Lizewskie, chairman of car selection. “The Aston Martin DB5 is such a beautiful car to begin with, and the 007 provenance raises the excitement quotient to maximum!”

Don Stabilito, director of the event, said: “Arguably the world’s most famous car, the Aston Martin DB5 with its British lineage will look right at home in the beautiful formal gardens of the Hotel Hershey. We are truly thrilled and honoured to present this exemplary automobile at this year’s event.”

As well as the James Bond Aston Martin, visitors will be able to enjoy a hill climb featuring vintage cars – the Grand Ascent – plus the Concorso Bizarro, a compelling class for automotive oddities which will take place from 10-3pm on 13 June.

The Elegance at Hershey has raised more than $500,000 for charity in its first four years, and a 5km foot race on the hill climb course will give visitors the chance to add to that tally.
