Minis embark on a massive adventure

| 25 Apr 2012

Five classic Minis will participate in the 5000km Allgäu-Orient Rally, which starts on 28 April from Oberstaufen in Germany and finishes in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku around two weeks later.

Hoping the cars live up to their rally pedigree will be the Minibaijan team that has entered three works-prepared minis, with Austria’s Classic Car Sports Car Club adding two more to the fleet.

The Minis will run from Bavarian Allgäu in Germany, through Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia to their finishing point in Azerbaijan.

Competing with them in the charity event will be a mix of more than 200 classics and youngtimers chosen with only two limiting factors – they must be valued at no more than €1111.11 and be at least 20 years old.

Cars that successfully complete the trip are then auctioned for charity with last year’s event raising more than €250,000 towards humanitarian aid.
