Morgan championship kicks off at Snetterton

| 11 Apr 2012

A field of 39 cars is expected to take to the grid for the opening round of Morgan’s one-make race series, the Morgan Challenge, on Saturday 14 April.

The Morgan-backed series is open to all four-wheeled Morgans and classes range from standard production cars of up to 2999cc, to 4.6-litre Plus 8s, BMW-engined Aero 8s and forced-induction 2000cc four-cylinder cars. Modified cars may also enter via approval of the Technical Committee.

The 45 registered drivers are made up of battle-hardened pros, who have been racing since the series began in 1985, plus clubmen who drive their cars to the circuit on the morning of the race.

With 10 championship rounds, extra points are given for fastest laps in each class, and theoretically any driver could be crowned overall champion and winner of the championship prize – the Peter Collins Tray.
