Parade of motoring icons to star at top London show

| 12 Sep 2016

A mesmerising parade of some of the world’s most sublime classic cars is set to dazzle visitors to this year’s Classic & Sports Car London Show, which takes place from 28-30 October at Alexandra Palace.

For the first time in the event’s history, the show will feature live demonstrations of some exceptional classic cars, ranging from historic racers through to the most exclusive supercars. The cars are set to tour the stunning grounds of London’s historic Alexandra Palace, setting off from the Grove area before accelerating past the Palm Court entrance and along the incredible South Terrace – the instantly recognisable front facade of the palace – giving visitors a fantastic opportunity to see, hear and smell iconic cars rarely seen on Britain’s roads.

As well as offering a brilliant opportunity for visitors to take photographs, the crowds will be kept informed thanks to expert commentary, while the most special cars will be driven by an incredible lineup of VIP drivers.

“Our inaugural show last year saw a whopping 15,150 visitors pass through the gates, and this year we want it to be bigger and better,” said James Elliott, group editor of Classic & Sports Car. “Six parades over the three days will give our visitors the perfect chance to enjoy their favourite classic cars, supercars and historic racing cars on the move in an incredible and unique London location. We’re really looking forward to getting the cars on the road and giving our fantastic guests even more to savour.”

A world-class lineup of guests from the automotive and motorsport world are set to grace the event’s interview stage, which will be hosted by Goodwood Road & Racing. It will represent one of the first live events to be curated outside of the estate, and will bring a touch of racing royalty to the palace.

The jewel in the crown of the indoor displays will be a massive exhibition dedicated to the supercar – ‘A Century of Supercars’. A public vote has selected 11 of the best supercars from the early days of motoring to the current era of hybrids, including the McLaren F1, Mercedes-Benz 300SL ‘Gullwing’ and the Lamborghini Miura, with each going on show as part of the stunning centrepiece.
