Pint-sized classics swamp Spanish party island

Dozens of rear-engined Seats, Fiats and Abarths from the Barcelona-based 600 Club invaded the Balearic island of Ibiza on 14-15 May. The event, which was hosted by the Classic Automobile Club Ibiza, resulted in scores of classics touring the island’s rural and coastal roads. In excess of 40 cars took part in the drive, featuring everything from staid Seat models through to the crowd favourite fire-breathing Abarths.

Is your club thinking about a Spanish adventure? The Classic Automobile Club Ibiza, soon to celebrate its 20th anniversary, is offering its local knowledge and organisational assistance to visiting clubs. Email for more details.

SEAT should have stuck with the 600.
I remember many and varied rental cars from trips to Spain in the 1970s, but nobody told me the new model SEAT 133 was water-cooled so I never checked. Scratch one boiled motor !
